This book is a gift that just keeps giving. Not only does it matter-of-factly use they/them pronouns for a character, have a wlw main character, BUT IT HAS ADORABLE AUTISTIC REPRESENTATION. Read that. Read it again. That’s a neurotypical alien (of the Aandrisk species) talking about an autistic alien (of the Aandrisk species) in a totally non ableist way and it’s beautiful.
There is also an autistic coded character onboard the ship called Corbin, a character who is very clearly neurodivergent though I’m not sure what she is (Kizzy, despite being quite ableist here) and ASHBSHSHAG I SAID AWWW OUT LOUD AT THIS BIT.
